Data and privacy

PrepTools does not require you to create an account. Its power calculations and PDFs are produced in your browser without uploading the entries to the website.

When you search a UK postcode, the PrepTools server sends that postcode to the Postcodes.io lookup API. The site uses the response to select directory records and transmitters. Location responses may be cached in the server's memory for up to 12 hours. Your browser may remember the last entered postcode for the current browser session.

When you open the Location Coordinates map after searching a postcode, your browser loads an interactive map from OpenStreetMap. The map receives the postcode centre coordinates to position its marker and may process standard network information such as your IP address. The map is not loaded until you view the coordinates tool with a valid postcode.

No site-specific analytics system or personal-contacts database is included. Standard infrastructure and reverse-proxy access logs may still record IP addresses and requests according to your hosting arrangements.

Reference contacts and radio station information come from dated public-source extracts. Always verify information that could affect safety.
